We know coding is the language of the present and the future. In fact, “the Bureau of Labor Statistics projects that employment specifically for computer programmers will decline 8% to 302,200 positions over the next decade as businesses outsource projects to less expensive contract workers overseas.” (via Fast Co) Raspberry Pi is an affordable computer that can be used to learn programming. It allows learners to use physical computing and be hands on while learning the programming languages. The possibilities for modifications in projects is endless and this makes it very different from learning to code just on a website.
Our K-12 educational environment must provide students opportunities and experiences in the growing field. We know that students aren’t going to gain this experience without adequate professional learning. This experience seeks to provide that experience for educators.
Join us to learn programming and walk away with your very own Raspberry Pi!
Special thanks to ITEF for fudning this great event for innovative learners in our region.
