Welcome to "Add+It+Up", a regional math conference for educators and curriculum coordinators! We are excited to bring you an event that will provide you with the latest strategies and curriculum to enhance your teaching skills.

In addition to a keynote, we will be featuring breakout sessions led by regional educators and curriculum coordinators. These sessions will provide you with practical strategies and tools to use in your own classroom. You will also have the opportunity to network with other educators and learn about new resources that can help you in your teaching.

Keynote Speakers

Keynote Speaker: Dr. Pamela Seda

Dr. Pamela Seda

Dr. Pamela Seda is an educational consultant in Atlanta with over 30 years of educational experience. She is the owner of Seda Educational Consulting, creator of the VANG Game, and co-author of Choosing to See: A Framework for Equity in the Math Classroom. As a regular speaker about math equity at conferences, Dr. Seda is committed to changing how students experience mathematics, especially those from marginalized groups, and advocates for mathematics instruction that develops all students as mathematical thinkers and problem-solvers.

 

Keynote Speaker: Dr. Kara Imm

Kara Imm

Dr. Kara Imm is a K-12 teacher educator, based in Brooklyn, who designs and leads on-site professional development and school-based coaching to school communities throughout New York City, across the U. S. and internationally. When not partnering with schools, districts and state programs, she supports the student teaching experiences of K – 5th grade candidates in East Harlem through her work at Hunter College (City University of New York). For over a decade, she has created original professional development courses for K-12 STEM teachers at Math for America (MfA). In her research and writing, Kara explores multiple areas of interest: the role of design thinking in teachers’ work with marginalized students; how thinking and talk routines develop math communities where all kids can belong and thrive, and the powerful intersection of mathematical modeling, identity development and culturally relevant pedagogy.


Submit a Breakout Session

We are looking for additional presenters to host break-out sessions at the conference.  

REGISTRATION FEES will be waived with the commitment to present. 

Presenters will have the option of proposing a regular or a double session. Regular break-out sessions will be 75 minutes in length.  Double blocked sessions will be 2 hours and 45 minutes long. There will be three 75 minute sessions per day. 

Topics of Interest could include:

  • Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in Mathematics

  • Problem Based Learning in Math

  • Authentic Learning

  • Building Thinking Classrooms

  • Developing Number Sense

  • Growth Mindset

  • Embedding Math Practices

  • Building conceptual understanding, procedural fluency, and strategic competence

  • Guided Math Lessons

  • Formative and Summative Math Assessment

  • Course specific sessions for high school

Donor Levels
