Out At School

  • Clayton High School 1 Mark Twain Circle Clayton, MO, 63105 United States (map)

Event Description

Our school communities are home to many staff, students, and families who identify under the LGBTQ+ umbrella (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and more). Too often, however, LGBTQ+ individuals face barriers in the educational setting that prevent them from comfortably being themselves. Join Connected Learning and other regional organizations in envisioning school environments that are welcoming of all genders and orientations. During event sessions, attendees will have the opportunity to participate in open conversations necessary for learning and growth. Whether you are a new or experienced ally, you are certain to leave with increased knowledge, skills, and resources for supporting the LGBTQ+ staff, students, and families in your own school community.

Mission of the Event

Out at School’s mission is to work toward eliminating the social, emotional, and mental health inequities of LGBTQ+ individuals in schools. Through our collaborative efforts and skill-sharing, we can create schools that are safe, supportive learning environments for all. Our vision is for LGBTQ+ youth and adults to have the conditions to not just survive, but also to thrive on school campuses across our region.
