Love & Literacy- Breakout Session ProposalThis summer, your favorite professional learning organizations are joining forces to host Love & Literacy: a conference for educators in grades K-16 on July 14 & 15, 2026. ConnectED Learning, Gateway Writing Project, the Language Arts Regional Consortium, and the Missouri Literacy Association invite you to share your love and expertise of literacy and teaching by submitting a proposal to present.Specifically, we are seeking conference proposals that are 75 minutes in length and will appeal to a broad audience of teachers from elementary through high school. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to, the following:Joy, love, and literacyEquity and social justiceProviding access to diverse textsReading intervention and access to complex texts for all readersExpanding the canonArgument, advocacy, and writing for real audiencesReading and composing digital textsBalancing whole class, small group, and independent readingPromoting informational text reading and writingReading and writing across the curriculumSupporting independence, authenticity, and choiceTeaching foundational reading skillsAssessment and feedbackAI and the literacy classroomCourse specific session for high school

Thursday, December 11th, 2025Writing Instruction in the Age of AIThe impact of AI on education is an evolving discussion. Join in!Gateway Writing Project will host a one-day workshop on writing instruction in the age of AI. The session will explore how AI has shifted the foundation of our work with students considering the writing process and the products we ask students to create. We will explore digital literacy, curriculum integration of AI, and strategies for engaging students in authentic writing. We will collectively share our experiences in order to learn about the successes, challenges, possibilities, and limitations of AI in our work while upholding our values about the beauty and power of writing.

St. Louis, MOCall for SpeakersThe 2026 Midwest Great Lakes Region conference committee is now accepting submissions for speaking engagements for the in person conference June 1-3, 2025 in St. Louis, MO.Conference Theme: The Gateway: Schools for Tomorrow’s LearningAll speakers must be available to speak on all or any of the session days as sessions will be assigned time slots.All speakers MUST register for the conference. A discount of$75will be offered to selected speakers for FULL conference registrations (does not apply to daily rates).No compensation will be provided for speaking, expenses, travel, or lodging.Primary preference will be given to submissions:Related to the conference theme.Offer a fresh perspective.Are relevant and of interest.Have measurable and achievable learning objectives and call to action.Proposals that include students, teachers, or administrators.
